Microbiology & Immunology

Microbiology and Immunology integrates many disciplines (virology, bacteriology, parasitology, molecular biology and immunology) concerned with the study of the transmission, immunobiology, and pathogenesis of bacterial, parasitic, viral and infectious diseases of public health importance. Research takes place in the laboratory, in the clinic, and in the field, as the scientists work to tackle such public health problems as lymphatic filariasis, malaria, chikunguniya, dengue, mosquito-borne encephalitis, tuberculosis, diarrhea, measles, viral hepatitis and respiratory infections particularly influenza.
